School employees prepare with in-service days
USD 208 teachers and staff began the school year with in-service training and a workday on August 13-15.
On Wednesday, the day began with an address by Mark Bejot, superintendent. Bejot encouraged teachers and staff to “model behaviors that inspire kids to learn” with attention to keys to classroom success: “relationships, relevance, and rigor.”
Then Bejot introduced new high school faculty members: Sheryl Carson, science; Stephanie Anglemyer, instrumental music; Sandra Harwick, resource room; and Georgia Abbott, school nurse. New para-educators will be Erin Lovelace, Betty Schreiner and Kelly Bieker.
Before teachers began CPR training, Bejot and Board President John Reeder passed out service awards: Marilyn Eberle and Don Mosher received 30-year watches. Receiving pins for service were the following: 25 years—Karol Hickel; 20 years—Irene Dirks and Bev Armbruster; 15 years—Chris Herl, Vicki Doxon and Delores Brown; 10 years—Kathy Jamison, Wanda Pfannenstiel, Janene Schrant and Randy Wegele; and 5 years—Margaret Schmitt, Gina Halksworth and Kathleen Schneider.
