Trego wrestling goes 2-1 at Goodland dual

On Friday, January 4, the Trego Wrestling team headed to Goodland for a triple dual to face Atwood, Saint Francis, and Goodland.

In the first dual against Atwood, Trego won 51-24. In the 126 weight class, Tanner Sells won by forfeit. Hayden Opat, wrestling at 132, won in a tech fall against Cade Migchelbrink. Eli Reling won by fall in 1:58 over Kendrick Woody in the 138 weight. Gavin Garza won by forfeit in the 145 weight class. In the 152 weight class Toby Lowry also won by forfeit. Colby Burkhart, wrestling  at 160, won by forfeit as well.  Jamie Opat won by a major decision, 20-7, in the 170 weight class. Dillon Dunn and Parker Opat both won by forfeit in the 220 and 285 weight class respectively.

In a close dual against St. Francis, Trego came out on top winning 36-33. Tanner Sells won by fall over Aaron White in 4:51 in the 126 weight class. Eli Reling also won by fall over Kobe Tice in 52 seconds in the 138 weight class. Winning by forfeit, Colby Burkhart--160 weight class--gained six points for the team. Similarly, Jamie Opat won by forfeit in the 170 weight class. In the 220 weight class, Dillon Dunn won by fall in 1:59 over Seth Hilt. In the 285 weight class, Parket Opat won by forfeit.

Trego’s final dual against Goodland ended with a score of Trego 30 and Goodland 51. In the 126 weight class, Tanner Sells won by fall over Rhiannon Cacovio in just 19 seconds. Eli Reling, of the 138 weight class, won by fall over Manten Crow in 24 seconds. In the 160 weight class, Colby Burkhart won by fall over Dexter Duatel in 1:35. Dillon Dunn won by fall in 3:13 over Keifer Smith in the 220 weight. Again, Parker Opat won by forfeit in the 285 weight class.

Dawson Arnold also wrestled for the Eagles.
