Trego wrestlers fight hard at home

In an attempt to pin his Oakley opponent, Colby Burkhart focuses on proper technique.

On Friday, December 14, the Trego wrestling team faced up against Oakley and Plainville at home.

Eli Reling and Parker Opat were the high scorers for the Eagles, as they both pinned their opponents from both schools. Wrestling in the 132 weight class, Reling won by fall over Tristan Ryburn of Oakley and followed up by pinning Trenton Wray of Plainville. In the 285 weight class, Opat defeated Darien Dilka of Oakley by fall. Next, he wrestled exceptionally well against Plainville’s Dakota Yost, whom he was able to pin in a mere 47 seconds.

Also providing the Eagles with 12 points, Tanner Sells won by forfeit in both rounds. Colby Burkhart contributed 10 points to the team by winning in a convincing 12-0 major decision over Johnathan Temaat of Oakley and pinning Plainville’s Kolten Sander.

Winning both of his matches by major decision, Dillon Dunn first dominated over Oakley’s Wyatt Glassman in an 8-0 decision and went on to win in a 16-5 decision over Plainville’s Christian Ostrom.

Going 1-1 for the day, Dawson Arnold won his first match by forfeit but fell to Conner Stahl of Plainville.

Against Oakley, the Eagles won in a team score of 32-30. However, they took a loss to Plainville, 28-54.
