Trego Eagle Wrestlers take victory at Oberlin Invitational

Trego Eagle wrestlers traveled to attend the Oberlin Invitational on January 14 and brought home three medals.

John Kuhn, with a 14-1 record, placed first in the 113 lb weight class and scored 20.00 points for the team. Kuhn received a Bye for the first round. On his second round, Kuhn won by decision over Cade Rockwell (10-6) from Wray High School. During his third round, Kuhn won by fall over Colton Ketterl (11-8) from Decatur Community High School.

Tanner Lowry, holding a record of 12-3, placed second in the 182 lb weight class and scored 15.50 team points. For his first round, Lowry won by tech fall over Preston Nollette (4-11) from Oakley High School. Lowry won by decision on his second round over Roxton Brown (12-4) from Osborne High School. During his third round, Lowry lost the match to Kaden Meitler (17-3) of Smith Center High School.

Parker Opat, with a record of 6-7, placed fourth in the 220 lb weight class. During his first round, Dalton Kuhn (17-2) of Smith Center High School won by fall over Opat. For his second round, Opat lost to Chris Cox (10-0) from Oakley High School. During his final round, Kaleb Taylor (10-4) of McCook High School won by fall over Opat. Opat scored 4.00 points for his team.

Hunter Folsom of the 170 lb weight class, with a record of 10-7, scored 3.00 team points by pinning his opponent, Gavyn Klein (0-2) of McCook High School.

Others who attended the Oberlin Invitational included, Blake Spencer (3-8), Dillon Dunn (5-6), and Brady Mattke (10-5).

The next match is set to take place on January 20-21 at Hays High School.
