Trego wrestling qualifies one for State

The TCHS wrestling team traveled to Goodland for Regionals on February 16-17. Trego only had one wrestler that placed at the tournament.

Dillon Dunn placed fourth at the regional tournament. He won his first two matches by fall against Juan Mancillas of Leoti and Derek Bogner of Cimarron. Dunn lost in the semifinals by fall to Chris Cox of Hoxie. He won in the consolation semifinals by fall against Darien Dilka of Oakley. Dunn lost in the consolation finals by decision to Trayton Doyle of St. Francis. Dunn will be wrestling at the state tournament on February 23-24 in Hays.

Dunn, who is making his first trip to state, commented, “I feel very excited to be representing my school and team at the State Tournament as a sophomore.  I think I have had a lot of people that have coached me to e the best that I can be.  Both coaches will push me through this last week of practice so we can hopefully get some hardware.”

Other wrestlers that competed at the tournament were Brady Mattke, Shaye Aumiller, Blake Spencer, Jory Micek, Colby Burkhart, Toby Lowry, Sydney Boyle, Jessika Chapman, and Dalton Hendrix.
