Two Trego girls traveled to McPherson on February 9 to compete in the Kansas Girls Wrestling Championship. Jessika Chapman and Sydney Boyle both performed well.

Chapman wrestled twice but did not place; however, Boyle placed fourth.

In pool play, Boyle pinned her first two opponents but lost in a 0-2 decision in her third match. She went on to win her consolation rounds, winning in a 2-0 decision and pinning her final opponent.

Boyle said, “Wrestling girls is a lot different than wrestling guys. It’s a lot fairer in matches  plus competing at girls state was a chance to get recognized for all of the work put in throughout the season.”
