Trego wrestlers participate at Railer Invitational

The TCHS wrestling team traveled to Ellis to participate at the annual Railer Invitational on December 8.

Brady Mattke brought home his second first place of the season. He once again went 4-0. Wresting at 285, Mattke had a bye in his first round. He went on to pin Riley Philborne of Hoisington and Tyson Chizek of Council Grove. In the first place match, Mattke pinned his final opponent Jesse Garetson of Sublette.  

Dillon Dunn also took first with a 4-0 record. Dunn made short work of his first three matches, pinning Thomas Kester of Stockton, Hunter Renick of Cimarron, and Tanner May of Goodland. Dunn then won in a 6-3 decision over Derek Bogner of Cimarron.

TJ Hafliger’s 2-2 record gained him third in the 182 weight class. In round one, he fell to Roxton Brown of Osborne. He moved on to pin Blake Spencer of WaKeeney and Asher Gagnon of Council Grove. In his final round, Hafliger fell to Wyatt Pedigo of Hoisington.  

Also taking third place, Shaye Aumiller wrestled in 195. He started strong, pinning Bryce Shelor of Hoisington and Luke Massey of Sublette. However, he fell to Josh Seabolt of Cimarron. Moving to the third place match, Aumiller quickly felled his opponent Toby Woodworth of Ellis.

Three wrestlers took fourth: Jory Micek in the 170 weight class, Blake Spencer in the 182 weight class, and Parker Opat in the 285 weight class.

Other wrestlers included Colby Burkhart, James Opat, Toby Lowry, Sydney Boyle, and Jessica Chapman.
