Lady Eagles become champions at Trego Invitational

The Lady Eagles left the Saturday, September 8, Trego Invitational with a smile on their faces and new bragging rights as they walked away champions.

Kicking the day off, Trego lost their first set against Stockton 23-25. Although they were down, they didn’t allow the Lady Tiger’s victory to last much longer; Trego won their second set 30-28. With one final set to play, Trego dominated by winning 25-18.

With one game down and two to go to make it into the finals, Trego left no mercy for Wichita County. The Lady Eagles beat their opponent 25-7 in their first set. The second set was won 25-10.

Facing Russell, the Lady Eagles were not willing to give in. The first set was won 25-15. The second set was close, but Trego stepped towards victory, winning 25-21.

After three wins in pool play, Trego faced Northern Valley. While they lost the first set, 19-25, they defeated Northern Valley 25-22 and 25-14.

Finally, the Lady Eagles were just where they wanted to be facing TMP for the championship. During the first set, it looked like Trego might not achieve their goal of defeating the Monarchs, falling 18-25. However, the Eagles refused to let their opponents have the best of them and defeated their nemesis 25-23 and 25-18.

With the goal of beating TMP finally becoming reality, seniors Adrianne Carr and Jenna Howard commented on their victory. Adrianne Carr said it felt “pretty great” achieving their goal. Jenna Howard said, “It was a lot of fun. Now we need a new goal.  TMP played well – we played better."
