The Lady Eagles volleyball team swept the early competition at Hill City on October 7. The Eagles breezed through pool play and the semifinals, but fell to Ness City, which put them in second place.

The Lady Eagles faced Cheylin, Natoma, and Ness City in pool play.

Trego showed no mercy as they defeated Cheylin in two sets. The scores were 25-20 and 25-22. Trego continued to dominate as they faced Natoma and easily beat the Tigers, 25-13 and 25-8. Ness City overtook the Lady Eagles in the first set, 25-27.  However, Trego showed their rival Eagles who was boss and ruled over Ness City in the following two sets, 25-16 and 25-23.

The Eagles then turned their sights on the Atwood Buffalos in the semi-finals.

In the first set, both teams were evenly matched, but the Buffalos edged out the Eagles, 22-25. However, the Eagles came back to win the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-19.

Gracie Pfannenstiel reflected on the Eagles’ success stating that the team played well together and stayed positive.

As the Eagles moved on to the championship game, Pfannenstiel admitted that the team began to struggle with their emotions.  “We got behind, and we were afraid we were going to lose,” she stated.  Ness City defeated the Lady Eagles in two matches.

The Lady Eagles have made great strides and hope to reign in the negative emotions for more Eagle victories.
