The Lady Eagles celebrated Parents’ Night at home on October 4 and faced Plainville and Ellis. Coach Bailey Belisle stated, “It was a really hard night for us because we walked away… with two losses. However, the girls played really well, and we did a lot of great things.”

Belisle went on to say that the team showed better blocking and “multiple ‘stuff blocks’.” In addition, “the team had great touches that resulted in digs from our back row.”

The Lady Eagles started off the night with a game against Plainville. They won the first set with a score of 26-24, but the Cardinals came back in the second set with a score of 23- 25.   In the tie- breaking set, the Eagles had a good run but fell to the Cardinals, 17-25.

Next, the girls sized up their rival team, Ellis. The first set was a close battle, but the Eagles fell to their opponent, 27-29. The Lady Eagles built up their momentum and came back to win the second match, 25-17. The third set was equally as challenging, but the Eagles were just edged out of a win, 25-27.

Senior Emily Buchholz weighed in on the evening’s matches.

“We had good things happen, but we just couldn’t pull through. In order to have a strong finish, we need to stay positive when we are down.”

Belisle agreed. “We know what our focus is for October, and we are striving to be mentally tough to finish games when it’s close.”
