Trego takes on Regionals

Pushing her way to the end, Helen Giefer fights to make state.

On Thursday, May 17, the Trego track team represented well and will take nine athletes to the State Meet next Friday and Saturday in Wichita.

Cessna Stadium will watch five of Trego’s girls compete. In the girls’ 4X800m run at regionals, Helen Giefer, Sybil Giefer, Adrianne Carr, and Libby Frost helped carry the team to a third place finish in 10:38. H. Giefer ran the 1600m in a time of 5:39 which placed her in third. In the 800m run, H. Giefer also ended in third running a 2:28. The 3200m run was dominated by H. Giefer, who ran an 11:57 placing first. In the pole vault, Lili Shubert showed off her talent with a vault of 9-00, which placed her in third.

The boys’ team will take four boys to state. In the 110m hurdles, Hunter Price ran a 15.86 placing him in a comfortable second. In the hurdles, Cooper Desormiers achieved fourth in 16.90. In the 1600m run, Wyndom Giefer ran a 5:06 and made third. In the 3200m, Bernard Giefer ran a 10:56 and placed fourth.
