Trego takes second at Claflin

Defeating the high winds and their opponents, the Trego girls’ tennis team proudly takes second at the Claflin meet on September 19.

On September 19, Trego girls’ tennis traveled to Claflin for a windy meet.

Number one singles player, Adrian Dietz, had a 2-1 record, placing second. She won her first match against Hoisington, 8-3. However, she fell to her second opponent, Central Plains, 0-8. Dietz bounced back to win her final match of the day against Ellsworth, 8-1.

Number one doubles players, Madison Schoenthaler and Valerie Scott, had a 2-1 record and placed second. They won their first match against Hoisington, 8-2. Their next opponent was Central Plains who managed to defeat the Trego duo, 5-8. Schoenthaler and Scott won their final match of the day against Ellsworth, 8-4.

Number two singles player, Sina Litzius, also had a 2-1 record and placed second. She won her first match against Hoisington, 8-4. Next, she fell to her second opponent, 0-8, against Central Plains. Litzius fought back to win her final match of the day, 8-1, against Ellsworth.

Number two doubles players, Julian Coker and Ruchi Bhakta, also had the popular record of the day, 2-1, and placed second. They had a slow start first and lost to Hoisington, 0-8. However, they improved in their final two matches and won against Central Plains, 8-5, and Ellsworth, 8-6.

The girls will play next on September 23 at home.
