Starting strong, Lady Eagles take second

The Lady Eagle Tennis team had a strong start to their season taking second place at their home tournament on August 25.

Number two singles player, Adrian Dietz, swept her opponents away with her 4-0 winning record, beating Russell, 6-1, Norton, 6-0, Phillipsburg, 7-5, and Osborne, 6-2. Dietz ended her day with a first place medal.

Kacie Dunn and Lexus Haxton, as number one doubles, had a great start to their season with a record of 3-1. They defeated their first three opponents, Russell, 6-0, Norton, 6-0, and Phillipsburg, 6-4, but ended up falling to Osborne, 2-6, and taking a second place medal.

In number two doubles, Valerie Scott and Codi Bliss had a 3-1 record. Scott and Bliss won their first two matches against Russell, 6-2, and Norton, 6-0, but fell to their opponent Phillipsburg, 2-6. Scott and Bliss came back their last match and won against Osborne. They took a second place medal.

Molly Moden, number one singles player, had a slow start to the day with a loss against Russell, 2-6, but she came back to win her second match against Norton, 6-4. Moden lost her last two matches against Phillipsburg, 2-6, and Osborne, 2-6, but came out placing fourth.

Coach Lori Dietz commented on the tournament.

“The girls have started the season strong. I was impressed with their aggressiveness and how well they served.”

The Lady Eagle Tennis Team will play in Ellsworth on September 1.
