Trego tennis hosted its first meet on August 24 and placed fourth.

Bringing in the best performance for the team Adrian Dietz, number one singles player, took second place with a 3-1 record. In round one Dietz defeated Russell, 6-0. She also had a victory against Norton, 6-0 and a loss to Osborne, 0-6.

Number two singles player Valerie Scott’s only win came in the first round of play when she defeated Russell, 6-2. She then fell to Norton, 3-6 and Osborne, 0-6. However she ended the day tied for third.

Taking third Madison Schoenthaler and Julian Coker had a 2-2 record. Against Russell the doubles players lost by one point, 6-7. Round two was better for the set as they defeated Norton, 6-4. They lost to Phillipsburg in their final match, 0-6.

Codi Bliss and Cambrie Kemp ended the day in fifth, the team finished with 17 points.

Coach Lori Dietz shared her thoughts on the first meet. “Overall I was impressed with how well all the girls played. Our strength was in our serving. We will keep working on backhands.”

Varsity’s next meets are on August 29 in Ellsworth and Phillipsburg on September 5.
