Trego battles the Hill City Ringnecks

The TCHS football team traveled to Hill City to take on the Ringnecks on September 29.

The Eagles and Ringnecks held each other off with both teams scoring no points in the first quarter. However, Trego scored a touchdown in the second quarter.  Hill City then edged them out by scoring two touchdowns against them. The score was 8-14 at half-time.

After half-time, the teams once again took the field. The Eagles pushed to overtake the Ringnecks and added six more points to the board, but they could not maneuver around Hill City. However, the Ringnecks scored 14 more points.  The score was 14-28 at the end of the third quarter. Trego was unable to score any touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and the scoreboard read 14-35 as the clock ran down.

Players of the game included Hunter Price as offensive player. Price started for the first time this year and had 196 yards on 23 carries. He also had three receptions for 42 yards.

Austin Kinderknecht was selected as defensive player of the game. Kinderknecht finished the night with four tackles but also had two sacks and four quarterback hurries to go with the tackles.

James Opat was selected special teams player of the game. Opat had 33 yard average on his three punts and all three were downed inside the 20 yard line.

The Eagles will next compete with the Decatur County Red Devils in Oberlin on October 6.
