On Friday, August 31, the Trego Golden Eagle football team started off their season strong with an exciting 52-24 victory over the Stockton Tigers.

Seemingly before everyone had taken their seats, Trego was off to a great start as junior Cooper Desormiers made the first touchdown. The Eagles never looked back after that, and the first quarter ended with the score 14-6. The second quarter also provided great results with the Eagles scoring 32 points while holding Stockton at six points, making the score at half-time 46-12.

The third quarter saw the Eagles and Tigers each receive six points; however, the fourth quarter proved to be slightly more of a struggle as Stockton scored six points and held Trego’s score constant. Nonetheless, it was not enough for the Tigers to take the win, and Trego dominated with the final score of 52-24.

Senior Keagan Shubert was honored with overall player of the game, and Dallas Schneider and Nathaniel Werth, also seniors, were given offensive and defensive players of the game.

The Eagles will be back on the home football field next Friday, September 7, at 7:00 p.m.
