Golden Eagles add another win to season

After a 46-0 performance against the Quinter Bulldogs on September 16, the Trego Golden Eagle football team now has a 3-0 record.

During the first half, Trego put up 44 unanswered points. The Eagles returned after halftime and put up two more points, ending the game in the third quarter.

Alex Haxton was named Overall Player of the Game for his outstanding offense as right guard. Haxton also had nine tackles on defense, one touchdown and “a slobber knocker” on an interception.

Keagan Shubert earned his second Offensive Player of the Game title with four touchdowns and a two point conversion. Shubert was 6-7 passing for 85 yards and had three carries for 32 yards.

Coach Pat Haxton also named Brendan Flax Defensive Player of the Game, with two pass deflections, seven tackles, and two interceptions.  Flax now has four Interceptions on the season after only three games.

Coach Haxton awarded Hunter Folsom a Player of the Game title, saying, “Hunter again did a very nice job in our kicking game.  Folsom had one punt return for 37 yards that set up Trego’s first touchdown.  He also kicked off seven times, recording a 40 yards per kick average.

The Golden Eagles will have their first home game on September 23.
