Eagles soar at state with cool runnings

On October 28, the Eagles cross country team competed at the State cross country meet in Wamego at Wamego Country Club.

It was a cold start to the day with the boys running at 10:35 in the morning when it was 36 degrees. Taking the last medaling position, Wyndom Giefer finished in 20th with a time of 18:18.9.

Others running were Bernard Giefer, 18:38.9; Willy Barney, 18:51.6; Benjamin Anderson, 20:36.1; Andrew Mejia, 22:14.3; Cooper Desormiers 25:20.4; and Evan Wilds, 30:24.5.

The girls raced at 12:20 with weather conditions at 44 degrees. Helen Giefer took a third place finish with a time of 19:43.2.Sybil Giefer ran a 20:52.2 placing ninth.

Others running were Aleah Howard, 23:38.9; Sydney Boyle 25:39.2; and Gracie Hickson, 27:23.6.

The boys’ team got tenth and the girls got sixth.

The Eagles had a great season and are looking forward to next year.
