Trego runners achieve personal bests at Ness

Fighting past the fatigue, Andrew Mejia focuses on finishing the 5000 meters at Ness City on September 27.

The Eagle cross country team ran at the Ness City Country Club for the Ness City Invitational on September 27.  The girls' team placed second, coming in behind Scott City. The boys' team finished in sixth.

Individually, Helen Giefer had her fastest time of the season, finishing first with a time of 19:05.90. Previously, her fastest time was 19:48.  She was followed by Sybil Giefer who fan the 5000 meters in 22:17.40 and finished in sixth. Also shaving time off their best runs were Regan Moritz with 23:09.80, Sydney Boyle with 24:50 and Louise Lehy came in at 26:48.

Coming in first for the boys’ team was Wyndom Giefer at 17:20.10, shaving five seconds off his top speed of the season.  Giefer was a full 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Trevor Fischer of Wallace County.  William Barney finished in 14th place with a time of 19:19.  Benjamin Anderson had his best time with 20:30.  He was followed by Clay Burk with a time of 21:26, Andrew Mejia with 24:08, and Evan Wilds with 26:35.
