Cross country runners lead the way

Undaunted by the Hill City runners, Trego runner Benjamin Anderson keeps a solid pace at the home meet on September 13.

The cross country team ran their home course on September 13 and once again had top performances.

Coming in first for the girls’ team was Helen Giefer.  She completed the 5000 meter run in 20:28.45 and had time to catch her breath before the second place runner, Emily Diercks of Hoxie, followed her across the line at 23:28.38.  Sybil Giefer placed third with a time of 23:41.  Regan Moritz continued to show herself as a solid runner, finishing in sixth place with a 26:37.  Sydney Boyle came in at 29:58, and Louise Lehy crossed the finish in 30:01.

The boys’ team also had a strong showing with Wyndom Giefer coming in first at a time of 18:11.26 crossing the line just seconds before second place finisher Trevor Fischer at 18:19.57.  He was followed by Willy Barney at 20:23.  Benjamin Anderson had a good run with a time of 21:23.  Clay Burk ran a 24:19, and Andrew Mejia was close on his heels with a time of 24:38. Evan Wilds kept his smile and finished in 28:30.
