Trego cross country competes well at Norton

On Thursday, August 30, the Trego cross country team traveled to Norton for the season opener.

For the girls’ team, Helen Giefer achieved first place with a time of 19:58. This is the fourth time she has won the Norton Invitational. Sybil Giefer came in fifth hitting the line in 24:32. In her first ever cross country race, Regan Moritz placed 11th in 26:44. In close pursuit, Sydney Boyle ran a 27:09, which placed her in 13th. Louise Lehy grabbed 22nd place in a time of 31:46. The girls’ team placed second with 46 points.

On the boys’ side, Wyndom Giefer placed first with a time of 17:53. In his last appearance at the course, Willy Barney placed tenth with a time of 20:34, followed closely by Benjamin Anderson. Anderson placed 17th, crossing the finish line in 21:28. Clay Burk, in his first race, ran a 24:02 which placed him in 27th. Andrew Mejia placed 30th finishing in 25:07. For the last time at Norton, Evan Wilds had a time of 31:57 and placed 34th. The boys’ placed third with 78 points.

“I am so excited to have an awesome team to compete with! Everyone works hard in practice and at meets, and we have so much fun together both during competition and during times when we are not running.”
