Lady Eagles snatch second at State

State Cross Country
After achieving second place at State cross country, the TCHS girls’ cross country team looks radiant as they stand behind their plaque.

On Saturday, October 27, the TCHS cross country team prepared for the biggest and final meet of their season: State.

After the race, the Eagles got to welcome another state champion home. Helen Giefer swept away the girls’ race with a time of 19:30. She was 50 seconds ahead of second place and the first cross country champion Trego has had since Erin Locke won in 2003. Trego’s next runner was Sybil Giefer, who finished in third with a season best time of 20:39. After that, Regan Moritz came across the line in 22:38 to grab 34th place. Sydney Boyle ended in 45th running a 23:18, and Louise Lehy crossed the finish line in 82nd place after running 25:52. The Lady Eagles finished in second place with 110 points—only eight points behind Ellinwood—earning a plaque for their efforts.

The only boy representing TCHS at State, Wyndom Giefer, finished in seventh place after running a 17:32.

Congratulations to the cross country team for a season well-done!
