The Trego Eagles participated in the Purple and Gold Tournament, which took place at home on December 5-10.
The TCHS boy’s first match in the tournament was a fierce battle against Lacrosse on December 6.
The Eagles played a close game, trailing behind by a score of 9-10 during the first quarter, and at the end of the half, the score was 16-19. The boys struggled in the third quarter, putting up six points to LaCrosse's 12; however, they fought hard in the fourth quarter, outscoring LaCrosse by one point. Unfortunately, at the final buzzer, the Eagles were still short, and the final score was 37-45.
Top scorer of the game was Emmit Owens with 14 points. Tate Pfannenstiel was second, scoring 6.
Next, the Eagles played a close game against Northern Valley.
The boy’s team scored 13 points during the first quarter while Northern Valley scored 19. The Eagles worked hard outscoring the Huskies by 8 points in the second quarter. The third quarter was tight with Trego scoring 13 and Northern Valley with 10. Northern Valley fought back scoring 17 while Trego scored 8. The Eagles lost a tough match with a final score of 48-52.
Top scorer of the game was Keagan Shubert with 21 points. Second was Emmit Owens with 16 points.
Last, the Trego Eagles played an exciting game against Victoria.
During the first quarter of the game, the Eagles kept the Knights from scoring, putting up 12 points. The Knights fought back, but the Eagles fought harder scoring 15 points to Victoria’s 11 at the end of the second quarter. The third quarter was low scoring, but the Eagles stayed ahead 9-6. The last quarter the Knights outscored the Eagles 12-9. The final score was 45-29 with the Eagles taking away the win.
The Golden Eagles played well during the tournament, placing seventh.
