The TCHS boys’ basketball team defeated the Ellis Railroaders on February 14. “They put together a complete game.  They earned that victory,” stated Coach Sean Dreiling.

In the first quarter, Trego came out soaring as they pulled ahead of Ellis with a score of 12-10. Both teams were evenly matched as they battled in the second quarter with a score of 25-23 at half-time.

Trego maintained their lead on the Railers with a score of 43-40 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter is when the Eagles showed their colors and outscored Ellis. The scoreboard read 71-63 at the end of the night.

Senior Emmit Owens led the team with 36 points and seven assists.

Dreiling weighed in on the team’s performance.

“We really locked in defensively. They scored a lot of points, but we made them take tough shots and earn every basket. When we are focused defensively, it translates to good offense. I’m really proud of the guys and their effort.”
