Trego boys basketball season off to solid start

The Trego boys’ basketball team defeated the Dighton Hornets in their first game of the season on December 2.

The Eagles soared into the first quarter and demolished the Hornets with a score of 10-6. The second quarter proved difficult, but Trego remained ahead at the end of the first half with a score of 18-14 at half-time.

The third quarter was also a close one, but the Eagles edged ahead, 31-30. The fourth quarter was a nail-biter for fans with both teams going back-and-forth tying the game. The Eagles pushed hard and pulled ahead of Dighton, 41-36.

Emmit Owens was the team leader with 13 scored points, five assists, two steals, and one block. Alex Haxton scored nine points while Keagan Shubert was close behind with eight. Freshman, Carter Minson had a 100% field goal percentage shooting twice and scoring six points.

The Eagles will be participating in their home Purple and Gold Tournament during the week of December 5.
