Trego keeps it close in MCL tournament

On Saturday, January 15, The Trego boysā€™ basketball team was set to face the Smith Center Redmen.

In the first quarter, the boys played hard and ended the quarter with the lead. They stayed focused in the second quarter and went to the locker room with high hopes of victory.

In the second half, the boys came out fighting but could not come out on top. The boys ultimately fell to the Redmen. At the end, the scoreboard showed Trego 36, Smith Center 40.

The highest scoring boy for the Eagles was Hunter Olson with 12 points closely followed by Carter Minson with 11 points.

On Thursday, January 18, the boys faced Stockton. It was the second game of the tournament.

The boys fought hard in the first half and ended it with a very close score. They came out of the gate fighting and finished in overtime with a score of 58-56.

Scoring the most, Carter Minson put up 17 points, Hunter Price 10, and Tate Pfannenstiel 9 points.

The team achieved ninth place in the MCL tournament.

Head Coach Sean Dreiling expressed, ā€œI was proud of them. They had a great week of practice. We did not defend as well as I would like but the boys made winning plays when it counted. They deserved this win.ā€
