The Trego boys’ basketball participated in the Purple and Gold Tournament December 4-9. The Eagles finished with a 2-1 record.

They started off the tournament on Tuesday, December 5, facing Stockton. The first quarter was close between both teams with a score of 16-17. However, the second quarter was a tough struggle for the boys, who scored 8 points to Stockton’s 13 points. The boys returned after halftime to score a total 26 points in the second half. However, they fell to Stockton 50-55.

They played Oakley on Friday, December 8. The first half was close with scores of 13-17. During the third quarter, both teams put up nine points. However, in the fourth quarter, Oakley doubled Trego’s points, 10-20 and defeated Trego 32-46.

On Saturday, December 9, Trego took on Victoria. Trego dominated the first half doubling Victoria’s points, 34-17. After half time, Trego put up 15 more points. Victoria was defeated by Trego 49-24.

Keagan Shubert, who was leading scorer in all three games, insisted that his teammates helped him get the shots. “It took a total team effort. Everyone was being aggressive, which helped me to get open, and they found me for open shots.”
