Scholars’ Bowl starts season

The TCHS Scholars’ Bowl opened their season by taking two teams to the Ness City competition on October 24.

The junior varsity ended the competition with a 4-1 record.

The junior varsity first took on Ness City. It was a close competition until team member Benjamin Anderson answered the year in review question correctly and pulled ahead with a score of 30-20. The team didn’t lose momentum and dominated Ellis with a score of 55-0. They also slid past Otis-Bison with a score of 60-40, qualifying them for the championship rounds.

JV suffered their first loss of the evening against LaCrosse with a score of 30-40. The team bounced back as they played Ness City again and ended the night with a 40-10 score. They placed third.

The varsity team had a tough night with their opponents. Their losses were with Ness City, 20-30; Ellis, 20-30; Otis-Bison, 20-50; and Lacrosse, 20-75. After a ghost round, they ended with a 1-4 record.

For the junior varsity, Clay Burk answered the most questions with 7. For the varsity team, Ruchi Bhakta and Brenna Flax tied by both answering 4 questions.
