Trego scholars’ bowl goes 8-1 to be MCL Champions

At Norton on Monday, January 8, TCHS’s scholars’ bowl team competed in the MCL tournament, finishing the day with an 8-1 record and coming home with the MCL championship.

In the first round against Ellis, Trego won with a score of 80-30. Helen Giefer answered three questions, Bernard Giefer answered two questions correctly, Benjamin Anderson answered two, and Ruchi Bhakta answered one.

Trego won against Norton in their second round with a score of 60-40. B. Giefer answered two questions, H. Giefer answered two, Anderson answered one, and Clay Burk also answered one.

Winning their third round with ease, Trego won against Stockton with a score of 80-10. B. Giefer answered three questions, Bhakta answered two, and H. Giefer and Anderson both answered one question.

Coming out with a winning score of 40-10, TCHS defeated Plainville in the fourth round. B. Giefer, H. Giefer, Bhakta, and Burk answered one question.

In a tough round, Trego won against TMP in the fifth round with a score of 40-35. H. Giefer correctly answered two questions, Anderson answered one question, and Sybil Giefer answered one question.

The Eagles won against Oakley in the sixth round. With a score of 60-10, Anderson answered two questions, Bhakta answered two questions, and B. Giefer and S. Giefer each correctly answered one question.

In the seventh round, Trego fell to Hill City with a final score of 30-70. Anderson answered two questions and Bhakta answered one.

In round eight against Smith Center forfeited giving TCHS another victory. The team made a score of 90.

In the final round, Trego won against Phillipsburg 50-30.  B. Giefer answered three questions, Anderson answered one, and S. Giefer answered one question.

Bernard Giefer finished the day as the Eagle’s top scorer with a total of 15 questions correctly answered.
